Intergenerational Programme

25th Mar 2019

The Intergenerational programme has been running for 4 weeks now. Between 6/7 P7 pupils go down to Greenhaw residential home on a Friday afternoon and take part in activities with some of the residents. Each child is partnered up with a resident and together they help each other in the task. They have painted, printed with potatoes, completed jigsaws and last week, we had great fun, playing a very raucous game of bingo.

(The residents all suffer from dementia and their level of engagement can vary week to week or even within the time we are there. I think this surprised the children to begin with, but they have learnt to ‘go with the flow’ and to embrace the whole afternoon. There is lots of laughter, and good banter, especially with some of the more outgoing residents and the children really enjoy their time there)
