Primary 4 have been learning about World War 2 this term. Before the war, Britain imported 55 million tons of food, a month after the war had started this figure had dropped to 12 million. The Ration Book became the key to survival for nearly every household in the UK. Every member of the public was issued with a ration book. Digging for Victory - growing vegetables in local parks and gardens became a necessity due to the restrictions. 4 ounces (100g) were allocated for sweets. Using our measuring skills, P4B investigated which kind of sweet would allow you to get the most per 100gs. We made predictions beforehand and referred back to them once we measured each one out. Most of us correctly guessed - Skittles! The children have enjoyed learning about WW2 so much this term.
